Jeong Jin-seok "Rejection of Lee Jae-myeong's arrest motion is the downfall of the 386 movement"

On the 27th, People's Power Jin-seok Jeong, chairman of the Emergency Response Committee, said, "If today (Lee Jae-myeong)'s arrest motion is rejected, we will see the end of the 87-year system that has lasted for more than one generation and the collapse of the 386 movement."

Chairman Chung said at the emergency committee meeting that day, "The act of turning a blind eye to indigenous corruption and corruption that betrayed the people is a betrayal of the sovereignty of the people, the core of democracy."

He criticized it as "cowardly silence", saying, "Among the 386 politicians from the movement, the main pillar of the Democratic Party, none of Lee Jae-myung's native corruption and corruption are opening their mouths."

Chairman Chung asked again, "What is the reason why yesterday's 386 democracy fighters, who risked their lives against the sad authoritarian government, are keeping their mouths shut today? Did they hang on to the nomination rights held by the party representative?"

He said, "People will say in the future that the vote on the motion for arrest on February 27, 2023 ended the fate of the 87-year system."

Ho-young Joo, floor leader, also said at the meeting, "Today's vote is whether or not the Democratic Party is a party that can use the word democracy, whether or not it keeps its promise to give up the privilege of non-arrest, and whether or not each member of parliament has a form as a constitutional institution. It is the day when you decide for yourself whether it is a party that fights against public sentiment or a party that supports public sentiment."

The motion for the arrest of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung will be voted on at the plenary session this afternoon. The approval of more than 150 lawmakers, a majority of the current lawmakers, is a requirement for passing, but the Democratic Party is in a position to mobilize all of its lawmakers (169 seats) to reject it.
